This font is another one of my "playing games with the format" numbers, so if you're here looking for a useful typeface of some sort, you're a month early (next month, I promise)!
This is a "two-tone" font, where the master letters are mapped to the lowercase keys while the separate drop-shadows are mapped to the uppercase. If you layer the text over itself, caps on one layer and regular text on the other, they'll line up perfectly.
The real value of this experiment is that it allows the font to be colorful while embedded as a font (I make PDFs, and that means more flexibility and smaller file size). One day I'll do something more elaborate, like a three-layer medieval illuminated-caps font I've been toying with for a few months.
And until then, Down Town Auto is a fun little thing on its own, to be toyed with and tossed aside. A TrueType confection of sorts. It's a caps, numbers, and selected-punctuation font ready to amuse. Enjoy.
